Beyond nurses: physiotherapists, medical laboratory technologists, radiographers and dental assistants are shortage occupations in Germany and degree-level professions in the Philippines. Here is the route for each.
The Federal Employment Agency lists medical assistants and dental assistants among the ten largest shortage occupations by employment for 2025, alongside nursing; physiotherapy and medical technology are shortage groups too. Philippine universities graduate all of these as four-year degrees with national licensure — which puts them within reach of German recognition, with language as the timeline.
Prime Search screens degree, licence, clinical experience and specialty; German preparation in Manila; recorded clinical interviews; recognition file for your Land; MWO Berlin accreditation and the Philippine exit chain in parallel. Everything here is subject to applicable German recognition, immigration, licensing and labour-law requirements and each Land's licensing rules.
Nurses, because the route is established and the Philippines' degree is well understood by German authorities; twelve to eighteen months to a licensed nurse.
For the licence in most Länder, yes; they can enter on a recognition partnership with A2.
As apprentices under § 16a — the German ZFA qualification is a three-year Ausbildung.
