Two of them — carpenters and electricians — require a Trades Recognition Australia skills assessment for Philippine passport holders before the visa. Electrical, plumbing and refrigerant work is state-licensed: workers arrive with an offshore skills record and work supervised until they hold the local licence.
We say this first because other agencies do not: concreters, earthmoving plant operators, scaffolders and general construction labourers are not on the Core Skills Occupation List. They can be sponsored only where a Designated Area Migration Agreement lists them — for example, Excavator Operator on the regional-only part of the WA DAMA — or under another labour agreement.
